We asked WYEP hosts what they'd suggest for music-related gifts this holiday season!

Joey Spehar

Phish tickets

Phish have been one of the most exciting live bands for 40 years. In 2024, they're planning to take the visual aspect of their music even further at the immersive venue known as The Sphere in Las Vegas in April.

Ticket Stub Diary

You've probably gone to quite a few concerts this year. In these days of digital tickets, we hold more memories in our phones than in a box in the basement, but I'd wager you have a stash of stubs from years gone by and this little journal is a great way to get them out of the basement and into the living room for all to see.

Kyle Smith

Vintage headphones

I found these old-school over the ear vintage headphones from KOSS earlier this year. Quality sound and they even feature an inline microphone and a cool, compact carrying case.

See Benji. at Bottlerocker

Get that music lover a ticket to see Benji. perform at Bottlerocket Social Club on Dec. 22. He recently released the Love Gun EP. Will Juergens and Cam Chambers join Benji.

Hellbender Vinyl

Check out Hellbender Vinyl on Butler Street in Lawrenceville. They manufacture 7-inch, 10-inch, and 12-inch vinyl records and have released some really cool looking and sounding albums this year

Ear Peace Music Earplugs

Vintage Syria Mosque Tickets

Oakland's Syria Mosque was demolished in 1991, but these vintage tickets live on! From shows from Louis Armstrong, Peter, Paul & Mary, Marvin Gaye, Pittsburgh's own Billy Eckstine and more!

Beehive Coffee Mug

The South Side's Beehive is also gone, but if you know someone who's always wanted one of their unique yellow mugs, you're in luck as they made some new ones!

Pittsburgh Concert Posters

Local designers strawberryluna have been creating Pittsburgh music posters for years, check out their posters for gigs from Belle & Sebastian, Jukebox the Ghost, Guided By Voices, Luna, The Detroit Cobras and more!

Gretchen Unico

Beatles sweatshirt

For the Beatles fan who has everything, this sweater is an exact replica of one owned by George Harrison in 1967, poking fun at the backlash against early Beatlemania. Taffy Sinclair Prints also has a variety of handmade music-related shirts, stickers, and tote bags featuring the likes of Lesley Gore, Jarvis Cocker, the Beach Boys, and the Temptations, for the music nerd in your life.

Dylan magnetic Post It note pad

Keep important notes top of mind with a little help from Bob Dylan himself, based on the iconic video for “Subterranean Homesick Blues” from the documentary Don’t Look Back. This refillable pad holds a standard pad of Post-It notes and sticks to any magnetic surface.

Joni Mitchell at Newport

Joni’s first live performance in over 20 years is available on vinyl, featuring liner notes by Cameron Crowe. This 13-song set from the 2022 Newport Folk Festival features Brandi Carlile, Wynonna Judd, Marcus Mumford, Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius, and Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, sharing the stage with Joni and playing some of her greatest hits.

Tim: Let It Bleed Edition box set

A great pick for a Replacements fan or anyone who loves '80s alternative rock, this is a remastered and expanded edition of the Replacements’ beloved 1985 album Tim. The set includes a brand-new mix of the album, previously unheard studio tracks produced by Alex Chilton of Big Star, concert recordings from 1986, and a book detailing the history of the record, written by Grammy-winning Replacements biographer Bob Mehr.

Bruce Mountjoy

Gibson Brothers at City Winery

I think a great Christmas present would be tickets to see the Gibson Brothers at the City Winery in the Strip District on Jan. 25! Leigh and Eric Gibson are from Plattsburg, NY and are one of bluegrass music's most awarded bands! This will be a terrific show!

Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine

I would also like to receive a subscription to Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine. Since 1966 BU has been the go to source for news, reviews and features about the artists, events and tools that are of interest to bluegrass music fans.

Rob O'Friel

Rolling Stones socks

My wife likes socks, and she loves The Rolling Stones. Gonna get her a few pairs right from the Stones website. All kinds of cool designs to choose from!

Barb Steinberg

Bill Deasy Live

The best tunes from the extensive career of Pittsburgh songwriter Bill Deasy (Gathering Field) performed live in front of an audience at Club Cafe. This is on my wish list to Santa.

There’s a couple quilt squares on here for music fans of many persuasions— The Grateful Dead, The Rolling Stones, Nirvana, and more. It will keep a music lover, warm on the sofa and have fellow music fans talking by the fire as the records spin on the turntable.
