You can help WYEP by calling Pennsylvania's U.S. Senators now

The House of Representatives has voted to eliminate critical financial support for WYEP, and the Senate will vote on this request soon. If the Senate also votes in favor of this plan, WYEP will lose nearly a half-million dollars in support.

Please call your Senators and let them know how you feel.

Here are the numbers to call:

Office of Senator John Fetterman
Pittsburgh: (412) 803-3501
Washington: (202) 224-4254

Office of Senator Dave McCormick
Pittsburgh: (412) 803-7370
Washington: (202) 224-6324

Here’s a suggested phone script you can use:

“Hello, I’m calling from Western Pennsylvania, and I want to urge [Lawmaker name] to oppose all efforts to take federal funding away from public radio stations like WYEP in Pittsburgh.

I believe efforts to stop funding public media are wrong, and I’m asking [Lawmaker name] to oppose any efforts to cut off funding, or to reclaim money that has already been approved by Congress for public radio.

Public media gets only a very tiny piece of the federal government’s annual spending, and I believe it is an investment that’s essential to all of Western Pennsylvania.

Would you please share my concerns with [Lawmaker name] and, as my representative in Washington, ask them to oppose any attempt to take funding away from public radio?

Thank you for your time and consideration.”

Every call matters, so call as much as you want: just once, or every day! They count the number of calls they get, and they always make notes of why you’re calling!

The more people they hear from who support WYEP, the more likely we are to prevent a catastrophic cutoff of federal funding that will severely hurt WYEP.

If you care about music and the musicians who call Western Pennsylvania home, please call now!
