Celebrate 100 episodes of The Grooves

This week we celebrate 100 episodes of The Grooves. The show is kind of a product of the pandemic, debuting in January 2021, it allowed me to be able to share my record collection and offer something a little different on the radio.

Over the last two years or so I’ve played more than 2,600 songs, and there have been shows on all kinds of themes — from focusing on specific years, dates or ideas; to tributes to Prince, Tina Turner, and David Bowie; and, of course, holiday specials.

I hope you’ve enjoyed The Grooves so far, thanks so much to everyone at WYEP who has given me the freedom and support to play these records on the air for you on Wednesday nights.

On Wednesday, Sept. 6, we’ll celebrate with tracks from the top 25 artists who have been played on the show.

Thank you for listening.

P.S. If it’s too late to listen, remember you can hear the show at any time by streaming it at wyep.org/grooves.

Director of Creative Services and host of The Grooves Brian Siewiorek came to WYEP in 2004 from WCBU in Peoria, Illinois, where he worked as a journalist, hosting All Things Considered and managing operations. His award-winning career has included stints in rural Alaska as well as WKSU at Kent State in Ohio.
