Wear Your Music T-Shirt To Work Day

Friday, May 22 is 91.3 WYEP’s annual Wear Your Music T-Shirt to Work day! We love this day, not only because it’s fun to see what t-shirts you pull out of the archive, but also because it reminds us that buying merchandise “merch” from artists you love is a critical way to support them. 

In 2016, The Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association reported that the global music merchandise market (of which T-Shirts are a considerable part) was worth $3.1 billion in 2016, up 9.4% from the $2.83 billion generated in 2015, according to the BBC.

Right now, while artists are unable to perform and tour in traditional ways, merch sales can be a way to keep them afloat. T-Shirt day is still two weeks a day, so if you can, maybe buy some new swag from a band you love.  Here is a list of some Pittsburgh Bands you can support:
