You Gotta Hear This

You Gotta Hear This features an inside look into a new release you may have missed, hosted by Cindy Howes. Bonnie "Prince" Billy is basically singer songwriter Will Oldham. He's been recording under Bonnie "Prince" Billy since 1999 and before that was involved in a few projects like The Palace Brothers and Palace Music. This new release is an excellent collection of minimalist indie-folk songs that are made nice and dark by Oldham's unique voice, but stay positive with his inspirational, yet intense, lyrics. You can hear a review and clips from his new self-titled release on the latest YGHT.

You Gotta Hear This features an inside look into a new release you may have missed, hosted by Cindy Howes. Lissie is a bad@$$. She's got a ferocious cover of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" and history of spitting in people's faces. Those two facts are not related, but they're reasons to turn your head/raise your eyebrow when you get to know Lissie- a midwestern girl who's been living in the LA area for a few years. Soulful, rootsy, and a bad@$$. Update: since this podcast was made, a release date for her debut Catch A Tiger has been announced for June 21st. YES!.... You can hear a review and clips from her EP Why You Running on the latest YGHT.

The newest You Gotta Hear This podcast is up now. This month, you get a 3 minute preview of the New Orleans based band, The Generationals. Con Law is the debut album from The Generationals, who are made up of former Eames Era members. It's influence include vintage 50's rock n' roll and 70's glam rock while still sounding like a modern band. Highlights include "When They Fight, They Fight" (a tribute to the Phil Spector produced 1950's girl groups) and "Faces In The Dark" (reminiscent of M. Ward). For more information, check out the YGHT podcast at the On-Demand Audio section.
