As if there wasn't enough hype around Arcade Fire already, the band recently announced they will be playing a 30-minute NBC special. Arcade Fire will be joining former SNL star Tina Fey on the premiere of the show's 39th season on September 28th. But that's not all!
In honor of their upcoming album, Reflektor, Arcade Fire will be hosting a 30-minute special that will immediately follow their SNL performance. The news was fist reported by Consequence of Sound. NBC has only confirmed the news, no other details regarding the special have been released. It's expected that Arcade Fire will highlight a lot of material from Reflektor.
Arcade Fire have promoted Reflektor in a rather unique manner. They released their album date via Twitter, released an interactive music video and played a secret show in costume. So if you are a fan of Arcade Fire and had plans on Sep. 28, break them because their NBC special is certainly not one to miss!
Also! Look for Arcade Fire's fourth studio album, Reflektor, is due out October 29.
Saturday Night Live has been host to loads of awesome and groovy bands, and Arcade Fire is no exception. This Grammy winning band has been on SNL twice before, and they're going to make a third appearance on Saturday, September 28th.
But that's not the news.
Immediately following Saturday Night Live, Arcade Fire is celebrating their fourth studio album Reflektor with a half hour long concert special on NBC. So Arcade Fire fans have a lot to look forward to coming up this Fall. Look for the album to show up in record stores and on virtual shelves on October 29th, or if you're not quite patient enough, just have a look at the music video for the title track "Reflektor".
Here is a clip from their first appearance on SNL in 2007. Have a look at this smashing performance of "Keep the Car Running", and clear your Saturday night for their next NBC takeover on the 28th.
Last night, Arcade Fire unveiled their latest single and two, yes two, music videos to accompany it. The song, called "Reflektor", is very much influenced by disco, and even features David Bowie on vocals. If you have eight minutes to spare, take a look at this video and groove out to this long, slow building jam. This single is the title track to their fourth album, also called Reflektor, which is expected to drop October 29th on Merge Records.
If you'll pardon the pun, the music video reflects the disco-themed nature of the new single. "Reflektor" features so much disco ball mirrored imagery that you'd feel right at home in a discotheque, but that doesn't mean that the video is spreading only positive vibes. Surreal imagery might make the hair on your neck stand on end as the song slowly moves along to its cinematic climax.
The second music video is actually an interactive video designed for the Google Chrome web browser. Reflektor's interactive video is the third interactive video that Arcade Fire has released, the previous videos being for "The Wilderness Downtown" and "Neon Bible". The latest installment was produced in Jamaica by Vincent Morriset, who has collaborated with Arcade Fire on other occasions. Be sure that you have a webcam and a smart phone or tablet with you if you want to get involved in the interactive video. They aren't necessarily required for the video, but they make the experience more unique. A mouse will do just fine otherwise if you forego a tablet.
