In case you missed it, here's what Jess played:
Jonny Fritz, "Are You Thirsty" - Thankfully he's ditched the moniker Jonny Corndog and Jonny Fritz has also enlisted the help of Jim James and members of Dawes for his new album Sweet Creep. His sound is killer and his lyrics are clever...I'm really digging this song in particular. For fans of Devendra Banhart, Father John Misty or Edward Sharpe.
Hiss Golden Messenger "As The Crow Flies" - MC Taylor has admittedly injected a lot of personal struggle in his new album Heart Like A Levee and it shows. These songs breath with life and have made for a wonderful soundtrack as the seasons change. I particularly love this track, which reminds me of Robert Plant.

In case you missed, it here’s what she played:
Kristin Kontrol, "Show Me" - The voice of Kristin Welchez might sounds familiar, as she is Dee Dee of Dum Dum Girls. The band's noir girl group pop is on the back burner at the moment, as Kristin is now hitting notes of '80s and '90s rock, pop and R&B nostalgia as Kristin Kontrol and on her new album, X-Communicate. Given her power onstage and the era this project points to, extra kudos to whoever arranged her run of shows opening for Garbage this summer.
Hiss Golden Messenger, "Biloxi" - The new Hiss Golden Messenger album, Heart Like A Levee, is due out in October. On it, North Carolina's M.C. Taylor once again surrounds himself with an incredible community of musicians, including Brad and Phil Cook and Tift Merritt. This track is a soothing road tune full of dreams, loneliness and the chasing of art and home, and to my ear, sits alongside some of the acoustic, road-worthy best of Ryan Adams and The Allman Brothers Band.

In case you missed it here's what he played with commentary from Andy.
Hiss Golden Messenger, "Lucia" - This is the lead track from the North Carolina band's new album, Lateness of Dancers. Dylan-inspired for sure, but maybe best described as The War on Drugs with fewer electric guitars and more mandolin.
Jill Barber, "Broken for Good" - Catchy tune from the Canadian songstress's latest, Fool's Gold. Nothing crazy here, just a pretty, classic-sounding song, done well.
