Pittsburgh Blues Festival - Sunday, 7/21

 

 The Pittsburgh Blues Festival is Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank's largest annual event, raising more than $1.7 million to fight hunger over its seventeen years. The Festival takes place each year in July at Hartwood Acres. Entertainment includes a full line-up of national and local blues music; food and merchandise vendors; and a KidZone with arts and crafts, blues for kids, games and healthy snacks.

Sunday, July 21st - Tab Benoit, The Nighthawks with Billy Price, J.D. McPherson, and several local bands...TBD!

Solar Concert Series - The Squirrel Hillbillies

This duo emerged from within the urban forest of Pittsburgh’s East End sporting an eclectic mix of folk, country and blues sounds. Jenny Wolsk Bain and Gary Crouth have been writing, arranging and performing original music since 2010, with appearances at the Three Rivers Arts Festival, Pittsburgh International Children’s Festival, Folk Alliance International and Calliope: Pittsburgh’s Folk Music Society. They draw from personal experiences, third-hand stories and vivid imaginations to craft songs that are unpredictable and quirky, yet widely accessible.

Pittsburgh Chamber Music Society - Julian Labro and the Spektral Quartet

PCMS presents "Five for Tango," a tango-laced performance, featuring Julian Labro on the unique South American bandoneon and Spektral Quartet. Tango dancing will take place after the performance!

Dos Equis Singer Songwriter Competition, Hambone's

Dos Equis and local distributor Wilson-McGinley present a local singer/songwriter showcase at Hambone's in Lawrenceville. 

Interested performers can register at wilsonmcginley.com.

A panel of judges will award a winner for each of the first four events who will move on to the final competition.  

Prizes will be provided by Wilson McGinley and will be awarded to winners of the final competition.  

Prizes include: 
   1st place - $500 cash + $200 gift card to Backstage Guitars, 4123 Butler St. + Studio time to record 3 songs provided by Parker Street Studio
   2nd place - $250 cash + $150 gift card to Backstage Guitars + Studio time to record 2 songs provided by Parker Street Studio 
   3rd place - $100 cash + $100 gift card to Backstage Guitars + Studio time to record 1 song provided by Parker Street Studio

Flood City Music Festival

First Fridays at the Frick, Matrimony

The Frick is proud to present Matrimony as part of First Fridays at the Frick 2013. Originally scheduled to perform during the 2012 season, the band's concert was cancelled due to rain. This emerging Charlotte, North Carolina-based indie folk group's gorgeous songs combine folk, pop and bluegrass into a truly satisfying blend.

Washington County Wine, Jazz & Pops Festival

Every year the festival continues to grow in the quality of the entertainment, the wonderful wineries, delicious foods and specialty items.
