The Live & Direct series continues with 2002’s Volume 4. As the years go by, the lineup of artists on these cds just gets more and more impressive. Where else can you find a cd that has live tracks by Indigo Girls, Rufus Wainwright, and Michelle Shocked? Add to that Norah Jones, John Hiatt with Sonny Landreth, Suzanne Vega, and Cowboy Junkies, and you have a lineup of some of today’s most talented singer songwriters.

Live & Direct Volume 3 has a nice mix of established artists as well as a number of new and up and coming performers that have become familiar to the WYEP audience. Volume 3’s standout tracks include songs by Janis Ian, Patti Smith, and Luna. Also included on this disc are Erin McKeown, local favorites The Clarks, Kasey Chambers, and Sarah Harmer.

The year 2000 saw a number of exciting acts come through the WYEP studios, and an assortment of their performances are captured on Live & Direct Volume 2. With 17 tracks by performers as varied as Sonia Dada, Toshi Reagon, and the North Mississippi All Stars to Matthew Sweet, David Gray and Luka Bloom, there is something for all WYEP fans to enjoy on this cd.

The first in the Live & Direct series was released in 1999 as a special two disc set. Featuring some of the best in-studio performances from previous years, Live & Direct Volume 1 has 36 tracks from local and national artists. The local music scene is represented by Shari Richards with Ernie Hawkins, Brad Yoder, and Rusted Root. National acts on the collection include Joan Baez, Wilco, Patty Larkin, and Chris Smither.
