Every Wednesday at 9:13 am, one of our most trusted music aficionados joins me (Cindy Howes) on the Morning Mix to play a couple favorite new songs and share some insight. Today we welcome Patrick Bowman!
In case you missed, it here's what Patrick played:
The Avalanches, “Colours” - The Avalanches’ return with their long-awaited new album Wildflower (out July 8), long awaited being 16 years since their classic Since I Left You dropped, drawing a straight line from the Dust Brothers production on Pauls’ Boutique and Beck’s Odelay, To DJ Shadow to Girl Talk. The album had over 3,000 discrete record samples. “Colours” is just a swirling miasma of good vibes and record scratches and straight up weirdness.
Maxwell, 1990x - "1990x" is off of BlackSUMMERS'night the upcoming fifth studio album by Maxwell. It is set to be released on July 1, 2016. It is the first album that Maxwell has released in nearly seven years. The r&b lothario is mostly known for his mid 90s albums Embra and Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite, and has arrive back with this just languorous with really thick strings a little off kilter vibe...with 90s R&B/neo soul sound which was really come back around.
