In a move that is likely to be bitter sweet to fans of both Furthur and The Grateful Dead, Bob Weir and Phil Lesh have officially disbanded Furthur. The bands website however has hinted that there are numerous other projects to look forward to in the future, “we’ll all be keeping very busy over the the foreseeable future, and it’s time to let Furthur take a bow”.
With the 50th
anniversary of The Grateful Dead on the horizon it appears that the remaining members will be keeping busy preparing what many speculate may be a reunion. “It would be wrong to let that go by un-commemorated” said Weir, “We owe it to the fans, we owe it to the songs, we owe it to ourselves”. Speculation aside fans can look forward to a new documentary commemorating the 50th
anniversary. The Scorsese produced film will span the career of The Grateful Dead and include never seen archival footage.
