Neil Young Turns 45 (The Album Called Neil Young, That Is...)
Submitted by [email protected] on November 12, 2013
It was 45 years ago today that Neil Young released his debut, self-titled album. We'll be celebrating this anniversary all day on WYEP with music from Canada's best Americana rocker. Some say this album didn't come out until January 1969, but they're only half right. The original mix of the album used an encoding system that made the record playable on stereo and mono systems, but it also degraded the sound quality. Young was unhappy with the record's sound and it had it partially remixed and re-released in 1969. Did you know that today is also Neil Young's birthday?? Yes, today he's turning 68. If you're not in the mood for mathing, that means he released his debut solo album on his 23rd birthday! Happy Birthday, Neil Young!
