The 9:13 Buzz with Andy Mulkerin

Every Wednesday at 9:13 am, one of Pittsburgh's finest music writers joins me (Cindy Howes) on the Morning Mix to play a couple favorite new songs and share some insight. Today we welcome Andy Mulkerin of Pittsburgh's City Paper.

In case you missed it here's what he played with commentary by Andy:

Broncho, "Insert Coin" - Broncho re-released their debut album, Can't Get Past the Lips, on Fairfax Recordings a couple months ago, so while this isn't technically new, it's new to a lot of us who missed it when they self-released it in 2011. This track is kind of post-punk sounding, but most of the album is driving, witty garage-punk. Highly recommended.

Laura Veirs, "America" - Laura Veirs is a musician's songwriter; she puts together solid songwriting and great orchestration to make some wonderful tunes. Her new album, Warp and Weft, is great, and she's playing Club Cafe Sun., Sept. 22.
