Sharon Jones Delay Release Due to Cancer

Sharon Jones has been diagnosed with stage-one bile duct cancer, the same disease that claimed the life of The Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek.  On June 3, 2013 the news of Jones' cancer was announced to the public.  Fortunately, Jones' doctors caught the tumor before it had time to spread.  Jones will be undergoing  invasive surgery which will require a lengthy recovery time for the 57 year old soul singer.

Jones and her band The Dap Kings had to cancel all of their summer tour dates.  The band's upcoming fifth studio album, "Give the People What They Want," which was originally planned to be release August 6 has also been postponed.  Jones said that she'll be updating fans as she recovers and that she's "looking forward to getting back on the road to give the people what they want!"  We wish her a quick recovery and hope she can get back out on the stage doing what she loves.

You can listen to the first release off the new album below.
