WYEP Studio Session: They Might Be Giants
They Might Be Giants (TMBG) is an alternative band that formed in 1982 by John Flansburgh and John Linnell. Before playing a sold-out show in town, they stopped by our WYEP studios to perform a few songs and hang out with our midday host, Mike Sauter.
Even after having over 20 years in the music industry, THMB have continued to create new and exciting material. In a similar fashion to kick starter projects, TMBG was funded by and paid homage to their fans and supporters on Nanobots. John Linnell commented on the fans part on Nanobots, “It kept the ball rolling for us, it was a kind of DYI crowd sourcing. It seemed to create goodwill.”
Nanobots is one of TMBG’s most unique albums. The short songs are meant to run together as an album.
