Misheard lyrics happen so frequently, that there is even a term for it. Mondegreen: a word or phrase resulting from a misinterpretation of a word or phrase that has been heard. American writer Sylvia Wright coined the term in her essay "The Death of Lady Mondegreen," published in 1954. The title derives from a poem's misheard line "They have slain the Earl O' Moray/And the laid him on the green", which she always heard as "They have slain the Earl O' Moray/And Lady Mondegreen." What are some of your favorite examples of Mondegreen?
