Songs about lighthouses
Each weekday morning at 7:15, join Cindy Howes for "The Daily Feedback" as she announces the topic of the day.
::: Tuesday April 5th :::
A lighthouse is a tower designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses or, in older times, from a fire. They're used as an aid to navigation for ships at sea. Lighthouses are used to mark dangerous coastlines, hazardous shoals and reefs. They are placed for safe entries to harbors. Once widely used, the number of operational lighthouses has declined due to the expense of maintenance and have been replaced by modern electronic navigational aids. Lighthouses are beacons of safety, but also have an isolated and mysterious nature. Many songwriters have used the symbolic nature of the lighthouse to their advantage.
