Morgan Erina Wants To Help People With Music

It’s been a few years since we’ve heard something new from Morgan Erina, but she’s back thanks, in part, to her new producer, Jake Hanner.

“I’m not a fan of being in the studio. I find it very sterile. I get really bored easily. So, Jake, he can just take what’s in your head and make it reality. That to me is amazing because usually in the studio, I feel like my creativity goes out the window,” says Morgan Erina.

When she’s not in the studio, though, Erina always has something on her mind. For her, writing songs is almost a duty.

“I don’t know if I like to write about anything, honestly. In my head I’m always like, I should write something more positive and do something cool, but I have to write about things that are inside like anxiety, panic attacks, depression. My ultimate goal is just to help people. I just need to. That’s what I got from music growing up, so I just really want to make people feel less alone,” says Erina.

Her new song “Are You Happy?” will wrap you up like a warm blanket made from the threads of her whisper quiet voice. And with any luck, it’ll help you with whatever you’re going through.

“For the last 3 or 4 years, I’ve had a lot of anger and resentment. There were some things that happened in this scene that really hurt me. I just want to let go of all that. I’m so desperate to let go of all that. When I wrote this song I remember being influenced by someone I know who was going through a divorce and I thought that I was just going to write the song for them. But, as I was writing the song, I realized that it was for both of us and for all of us, maybe. Anyone who wants to let go of all these negative feelings and anger and people who have hurt us, we don’t have time for that anymore. This song is about feeling freer. It’s about anything you need to let go of,” says Erina.
