The Jayhawks emerged out of Minneapolis in the 1990s as part of a wave of alt-country bands that were re-imagining a country-rock hybrid for a new generation of listeners. In 2004, after a half-dozen albums, the band went on an indefinite hiatus which eventually lasted until 2011's "reunion" album, Mockingbird Time. After another five-year break between albums, the band has finally returned with the new release Paging Mr. Proust
