Wilkinsburg Two-Way Street Fest
The inaugural Two-Way Street Fest will celebrate Wilkinsburg's strongest assets including community, small business, and excellent access to transit. Hosted by the Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation (WCDC), the event also marks the borough's project to change Wood Street from one way to two, improving traffic flow through the business district and access to businesses.
The Two-Way Street Fest takes place on Saturday, May 20, 12-4 p.m. on Wood Street between Penn Avenue and Franklin Avenue in Wilkinsburg’s central business district.
Activities will include the Venture Outdoors climbing wall, Xpogo extreme pogo performances, bike safety with Bike Pittsburgh, bike share demos with Healthy Ride, an obstacle course, and more.
Other vendors include A Peace of Mind, Move Yinz, Repair the World, and Wilkinsburg Chamber of Commerce. Food and drink vendors, including Culinary Artists, Salud PGH, Cobbler World, Wigle Whiskey, Independent Brewing Co., and Leona’s Ice Cream Sandwiches, street musicians, including Timbeleza, and a DJ will also be part of the festivities.
Additionally, the Sanctuary Project will host their annual Block Party for Peace in conjunction with the Fest, and the Wilkinsburg Skate Jam plans to kick-off a youth skate workshop during the event.
Event sponsors include Port Authority, Community LIFE, Western PA School for the Deaf, Highmark, BNY Mellon, Milestone, C.S.McKee, Neighborhood Allies, Witherel & Assoc., First National Bank, and Pittsburgh Urban Christian School.
The Two-Way Street Fest is free and open to the public.
