The Beatles: Behind the Scenes
"The Beatles: Behind the Scenes" is back again in April! WYEP Midday Mix Host and Music Director Mike Sauter will guide you on a journey to a greater understanding of the creative process of this legendary band. Once again, we'll delve into the writing and recording of three Beatles songs, including "Strawberry Fields Forever," "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," and "Let it Be."
Whether you're a die-hard Beatles fan or a casual listener, join us either Monday, April 7 OR Tuesday, April 8 from 7:30-9pm at the WYEP Community Broadcast Center. Tickets are $10 for non-members and $8 for members.
All ages are allowed at all sessions, but due to the subject matter, please note that there will necessarily be occasional mature language and references to drug use.
Here are a few comments from past attendees:
• "Having listened to the Beatles since before they appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show, I've been a student of their music and their recording sessions since I was twelve years old. I've read a number of books on the subject and your presentation was not only informative (and accurate) but very entertaining as well. Thanks for all the research and time you put into these presentations. Look forward to many more - keep up the great work!"
• "My daughter Katie and I attended the final segment of "Beatles: Behind the Scenes" last Tuesday night. A sincere thanks to you for what was a truly enjoyable and informative evening for both of us.... I wasn’t sure how well the 90-minute session would go over with a 15-year-old, but for a few days after the fact, she talked about how much she enjoyed the evening and referred back to it several times."
• "My middle-school son's assessment of your Beatles' session the other night? 'That was AWESOME.' He made me play Sgt Pepper's at full blast in the car all the way home as we sang at the tops of our lungs."
• "I attended the workshop with three 9th grade students. As I'm sure you know, teenagers are sometimes hard to entertain. However, my students sat enrapt throughout the entire workshop and had nothing but good things to say about what they heard last night! They continued to talk about it the whole way back to the school! Additionally, I was very pleased with what I learned."
