The Faces of Bullying: Community Engagement Forum

Presented by 91.3fm WYEP, 90.5 WESA, and Essential Pittsburgh, this event will explore the different faces of bullying. Join Paul Guggenheimer, host of Essential Pittsburgh, as we explore the different faces of bullying, understanding how students get involved in these interactions and what we can do to help.

Scattered through the event will be personal stories from students courtesy of Hear Me, an organization that amplifies kids' voices using media and technology, giving them the power to inspire social change. Christina Hostutler from Outreach Teen & Family Services will talk about the psychology of bullying, helping us to understand what is going on in the minds of our children when they bully and are bullied. Dorothy Devlin, a trainer and consultant of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program in the Elizabeth Forward Middle School, McKeesport School District, and Chartiers Valley School District will offer up some of our region’s best practices in solving this problem: using face-to-face interaction to restore the humanity of our students. Finally, Debbie Maier Jacknin, Executive Director of The Holocaust Project: Born to Remember will show us how to encourage the students who stand by while bullying happens to engage.

The two closest parking garages are Wood-Allies Garage and Third Avenue Garage.

The event will be held in the George Rowland White Theater at Point Park University
