Rock the Yough
On Saturday, June 9, the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy will host their annual River Sojourn on a section of the Northern end of the Youghiogheny River.
Participants will paddle 14 miles of this historic stretch of river from Yough River Park in Connellsville to Layton ending at Hazelbaker’s Bottom Yough Outfitters, Inc. The trip includes activities and presentations centered on the theme “Rock the Yough”, which focuses on the geology, ecology and cultural history of the river.
Participants are welcome to register for the event at the cost of $65 per person. A $65 registration fee includes meals, canoe rental, shuttling for the event, educational programs, a 2012 sojourn t-shirt and more.
Sponsors for the sojourn are the Pennsylvania Organization for Watersheds and Rivers, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Pennsylvania American Water, Sheetz, WYEP radio, Immersion Research and REI.
