An astonishing look back at the story of young Czech conductor Rafael Schächter who, while imprisoned in Terezin, led a makeshift choir of 150 fellow inmates in performing Verdi’s Requiem. A celebration of perseverance and the power of art and dignity in the face of inhumanity, the film also tells the story of distinguished music conductor Murry Sidlin's memorial concert held at Terezin in 2010.
