On July 20, 2017 from 7:00-9:00 PM, CAIR Pittsburgh and Bend the Arc: Pittsburgh will host a bystander intervention training in partnership with Union Project (801 N. Negley Ave). This is the first event that Bend the Arc: Pittsburgh, a Jewish social action group, and CAIR, an organization that represents American Muslims, are hosting together. Both groups are thrilled to be joining forces to tackle local issues that concern religious minorities in the city of Pittsburgh, and hope to work together on more projects in the future.
Members of the public are invited to join the bystander intervention training, which will be led by Mona MacDonald, Certified Self-Defense Instructor. MacDonald will teach participants how to engage in situations of public harassment and violence without escalating the danger.
There is a $10 suggested donation to participate in the training, but no one will be turned away if they are unable to contribute.
