Music and Programming
91.3fm WYEP, an independent, eclectic, community-based public radio music station in Pittsburgh, seeks a Music and Programming intern for our radio programming department.

Duties and responsibilities for this for-credit unpaid position include:
- Training on WYEP Master Control broadcast equipment, including Master Control on-air board, ENCO, Adobe Audition, CD players, DAT machine, VCR, phone unit, and microphone use.
- Maintaining and cataloging WYEP Music Library
- Study how a daily ‘Mix’ radio program is produced at WYEP
- Assist in producing Weekday Mix shows; finding information for on-air use
- Maintenance of databases for Mix features; archiving audio of in-studio performances
- Learning about WYEP programming philosophies, mission and audience development
- Administrative tasks such as aiding in station events on- and off-site; database entry, music cataloging, phone reception, etc.
- Additional duties and responsibilities related to the operations of WYEP
Broadcast and Audio Production
91.3fm WYEP, an independent, eclectic, community-based public radio music station in Pittsburgh, seeks a Broadcast and Audio Production intern to assist our radio programming and production department.
Duties and responsibilities for this for-credit unpaid position include:
- Learn and practice audio editing with Adobe Audition
- Learn and prepare content with Digital Audio Delivery System
- Assist with creation and production of promotional spots and special programming
- Edit and prepare network programming for on-air purposes
- Administrative tasks such as aiding in station events on- and off-site; database entry, music cataloging, phone reception, etc.
- Additional duties and responsibilities related to the operations of WYEP
Programming
91.3fm WYEP, an independent, eclectic, community-based public radio music station in Pittsburgh, is looking for interns to assist our radio programming and production department.
Duties and responsibilities for this for-credit unpaid position include:
- Learn the overall mission on 91.3fm WYEP
- Assist Program Director with daily writing of announcer talks, promos for air, and assembly of music charts
- Help to review, enter, and label new music for specialty programming
- Learn nuances of of our Music Master program that we incorporate to schedule daily music.
- Assist with ENCO music library
- Help to coordinate and assist with set up of studio sessions and in-studio performances.
- Categorize and file music.
- Learn and acquire knowledge about programming the non-commercial AAA format, audiences, and appealing to a critical mass of listeners.
- Additional duties and responsibilities related to the operations of WYEP
Education and Community Engagement
91.3fm WYEP, an independent, eclectic, community-based public radio music station in Pittsburgh, is looking for interns to assist our Education and Community Engagement department.
Duties and responsibilities for this for-credit unpaid position include:
- Creating and distributing promotional materials
- Event planning duties such as contacting vendors, helping with day-of activities, etc.
- Manage web content for the department
- Assisting with departmental programming
- Manage the facility calendar
- Other duties can be designed by the intern in conjunction with the Director of Education and Community Engagement based on interest in areas such as marketing, programming, and education
