Don Juan Returns from the War

World War I has just ended. Don Juan, shell-shocked and repentant, returns to Berlin, which is as damaged as he is. On a quest to find the love he left at the altar, he finds himself increasingly at odds with the man he used to be. After years of abstinence, can he resist the debauchery that once made his name?  Odon Von Horvath’s startling tale of displacement and isolation in the aftermath of the Great War is presented in a bold new adaptation by award-winning playwright Duncan Macmillan. Starring David Whalen in the title role.

**This show is currently running. The final performance day is Saturday, August 31st.

Throughout the year, Family House raises the funds to continue our critical mission through several events, but Family House Polo is by far our largest and most popular event each year.  Since its inception, this event has grown to become the largest polo fundraiser in the country, raising more than $3 million over the past 29 years.

Now in its 30th year, Family House Polo is a local tradition and a unique fundraising event.  Each year, 2,000 community and business leaders, individuals and families gather at Hartwood Acres on the Saturday after Labor Day for a fun-filled day of entertainment; from the professional polo match and tailgating to the brunch tent, silent auction and children’s activities.

Bill Frisell at The Hillman Center for Performing Arts

On the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' first American release, this is the perfect way to enjoy favorites like "Imagine," "Come Together" and "Across the Universe." Frisell plays his beautiful harmonies with violinist Jenny Scheinman, pedal steel and acoustic guitarist Greg Leisz, bassist Tony Scherr and drummer Kenny Wollesen.

Congratulated by the Vancouver Sun as a "stunningly original and sensitive tribute," the renowned jazz improvisation guitarist and his considerably capable ensemble discover long-hidden nuances within Lennon's most recognizable Beatles and solo hit melodies.

By reintroducing the legendary rock icon's sonic standards into a purely instrumental and openly modern context, Frisell aims not to reinvent the music of John Lennon. Instead, according to DownBeat magazine, he provides "an intelligent, no-frills presentation of the Lennon catalog."

Before Frisell's performance, Midday Mix host and Beatles fanatic Mike Sauter will present The Beatles: Behind the Scenes, a workshop dissecting the creative and production processes of classic Beatles songs.
