The 9:13 Buzz with Sarah Wardrop

Every Wednesday at 9:13 am, one of WYEP’s trusted music experts joins me (Cindy Howes) on The Morning Mix to play a couple favorite new songs and share some insight. Today we welcome Sarah Wardrop from WFUV in New York!

In case you missed, it here’s what she played:

The Claypool Lennon Delirium, "Cricket and the Genie" - With musical resumes that include Primus and The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, the combined imagination of Les Claypool and Sean Lennon could go anywhere, but in this song they invite us in rather than leave us lost. The world is psychedelic, prog and pop, and felt, to me, like a long lost Roald Dahl story. I can only imagine where their album (Monolith of Phobos, out June 3) and upcoming tour will lead next.

The Staves, "Sleeping In A Car" - This trio of English sisters is back with a new EP which will hopefully lead to a new album, but for now it's a beautiful reminder of their stunning sibling harmonies and naturally unfolding but intricately arranged songs. With subtle motion and intertwined rhythms the EP's title track builds into an amazing swell, and sounds made for a dusk or dawn roadtrips.
