The 9:13 Buzz with Justin Jacobs

Every Wednesday at 9:13 am, one of our most trusted music aficionados joins me (Cindy Howes) on the Morning Mix to play a couple favorite new songs and share some insight. Today we welcome Justin Jacobs

In case you missed it, here's what Justin played (commentary by JJ):

Kevin Morby, "Dorothy" - Kevin Morby splits the difference between Mikael Cronin and Kurt Vile. That is to say he's a folk-minded garage rock kid who knows how to write a hook without getting too excited about it. Morby used to play bass in New York collective Woods (whose latest I played last month), but he's been out on his own now for three albums. His latest, called Singing Saw, is by far his best — it's a spooky, beautiful gem of folk rock tunes. "Dorothy" is the album's first single.

Peter Bjorn and John, "Breakin Point" - These Swedes became megastars when their hit "Young Folks" got thrown on every radio and shopping center playlist in America in 2006. They've released music since then, but nothing quite as good as this new track. Simple, super-catchy melody, playful vibes and even the whistling that was the hallmark of "Young Folks." This track has all the makings of a real, live comeback for this trio.
