InnerBeat Drum School at WYEP

Discover your rhythm with InnerBeat Drum School at the WYEP Community Broadcast Center.

Children and adults of all ages are welcomed to come learn how to drum with a qualified local drum teacher, George Guest, the owner and drum teacher of InnerBeat. He offers his energetic classes to students of all ages--he'll work with anyone willing to learn.

Drum classes can be a good summer enrichment activity for kids and adults. They're also cheaper than you think, just pay for the lessons and the equipment package.

George is offering two 3-week courses, one for kids ages 6 to 12 and one for teens and adults. Both 40-minute weekly classes start at 10 a.m. The young kids class starts on Tuesday, July 16. The teen and adult class starts on Wednesday, July 17.

The 3-week course costs $60 for WYEP members and $70 for nonmembers. The equipment package costs $60 and includes a practice pad, lesson book and drumsticks.

Payments for lessons and equipment should be made at the InnerBeat website, find the WYEP 2013 Summer Class webpage.

Class sizes will range from 5 to 15 students. Missed classes will not be refunded, there are no make-up lessons.

Solar Concert Series - The Wreckids

The husband and wife acoustic duo of Sarah Siplak and Scott Roger Peterson, Pittsburgh-based The Wreckids combine acoustic guitar, viola, vocals, and a host of additional instruments to create an easy-going, lively and contemporary folk sound. Equal parts comical and thoughtful, the duo pairs whimsical lyrics with beautiful lilting harmonies. Anyone who's attended a Wreckids’ show will tell you they're as much about what happens between the songs as the tunes themselves, as Scott and Sarah enjoy telling corny jokes and playfully ribbing each other Sonny and Cher style. www.facebook.com/wreckids
