Re(imagiNATION): The Sound of Pittsburgh's Future

Check out the future of Pittsburgh's music and arts scene at Re(imagiNATION) on Saturday, May 4 at Schenley Plaza.

Teens from WYEP's Re(imagine) Media, our youth-led media and advocacy program, are organizing the music and arts festival showcasing high school talent. The free concert starts at 4 p.m.

Re(imagine) Media brings together high school students interested in media creation to work on the projects they care most about. Students have worked on videos, concert and album reviews and podcasts. Re(imagiNATION) started as a way to give high schoolers a platform to showcase their art and music and to give the Re(imagine) Media students practice with event planning.

The Emerald of Mt. Washington 5K & Festival

Leadership Development Initiative XX presents the 2013 PopUp! Pittsburgh project in the neighborhood of Mt. Washington. This year, the PopUp! event will be a family 5K and festival that will highlight the city's new Emerald View Park System. The entire theme of the day is based on the Wizard of Oz and will include munchkins, a black and yellow brick road, a Wizard and much more!

Second Annual Black River African Dance Conference

Hosted by Balafon West African Dance Ensemble, this conference focuses on educating the local Pittsburgh community on aspects of West African culture; including history, songs, dance and drumming. Kadiatou Conte-Forte, Balafon's Artistic Director, hails from Guinea and emphasizes a woman-centered approach to West African culture as a source of wellness and health.

Bring the whole family to the Children's Discovery Garden for a day of hands-on, sensory fun. Dig and plant seeds together as you learn about gardens and the critters who call them home. Activities include games, hands-on crafts, storytelling and more — all free with admission.
