Nancy Wood

Director of Development

As director of development for 91.3 WYEP and sister station, 90.5 WESA, Nancy oversees all of the fundraising efforts, helping to secure the primary source of funding to help both stations accomplish their missions.

Nancy grew up in the Rocky Mountains and has a long public radio history, starting her career while still a student at the University of Wyoming with Wyoming Public Radio. She moved on with stints in Phoenix at KJZZ and KBAQ, in Chicago at WBEZ (home of This American Life and Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!), at Prairie Public Broadcasting Fargo, North Dakota and, most recently, at Nevada Public Radio in Las Vegas. She is a self-proclaimed “NPR geek” and a certified music fanatic, and says she couldn’t have found a better fit for this chapter of her career. She loves the music mix on WYEP and no longer has a need for her Sirius radio. She cites Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” and Lyle Lovett’s “Joshua Judges Ruth” among her top albums of all time, and has recently found new favorites in Josh Ritter and The Avett Brothers.

Nancy lives in Munhall with her three feline children, Jersey, Levon and Macca (yes, there’s a theme there!). Still a relative newcomer to Pittsburgh, she is still getting to know the city and region she now calls home.
